Bath 19 is Coors' pre-Prohibition (a 91 year old recipe) brew that's being brought back. It's described as a hoppy flavor that is surprisingly well balanced. It'll be available on tap at certain bars in Chicago, San Fran, San Jose, DC and Milwaukee (whaa?? no NY??)
BrewDog Beer, UK's leader in brewing, introduced the world's strongest beer. The brew is 32% alcohol/volume. The beer, appropriately named Tactical Nuclear Penguin sells for £35 a bottle in the UK. BrewDog describes the beer as a "double cask matured uber-imperial stout."They ship internationally as well. Heck, if you're willing to pay £35 for a bottle, I'm sure you can afford the shipping. The label reads:
This is an extremely strong beer; it should be enjoyed in small servings and with an air of aristocratic nonchalance. In exactly the same manner that you would enjoy a fine whisky, a Frank Zappa album or a visit from a friendly yet anxious ghost.

Root beer actually came from an alcoholic beverage using root tea from the Native Americans. When prohibition came around, the alcohol was banned but the beverage went on using the name "root beer." Now, the original root tea alcoholic drink is back and its is appropriately named Root. It's got some unique ingredients including black tea and spearmint. It's 80 proof/40% alcohol/volume and sells for $39. [Uncrate]
SOBEaR dispenses alcohol depending on how drunk you are. It has a breathalyzer that detects just how much you've already had and pours liquor for you accordingly.
The brainchild of culinary adventurers Sam Bompas and Harry Parr, Alcoholic Architecture creates a intoxicating vapor using the same ultrasonic humidifier system found in Antony Gormley's installation at the Hayward in 2007 called Blind Light. Patrons pay around $7 for hourly slots between 7 and 9pm where they can don protective suits and get drunk off the air. It's a novelty for sure, but $7 isn't a bad price for an hours worth of gin and tonic no matter how you look at it. [Gizmodo]
