Dumbass Parent Has Kid Rid on Roof of Minivan

This 37-year-old woman is facing child endangerment charges for allegedly having her 13-year-old daughter ride in a cardboard box on top of her minivan as it traveled along an interstate highway in Alabama. The woman, Jackie Knott, a Tyson Foods poultry processing facility worker, was pulled over by cops. She told the officers that the cardboard box was too big to fit in her minivan and therefore she had her daughter serve as a human paperweight to prevent the box from flying away. As as precaution, she had tied the box down with wire hangers. The cops weren't convinced by the woman's effort and therefore arrested her. Why she didn't just flatten the box to get it to fit in her car? That remains to be known, but I'm guessing it's because this woman is a stupid hick. [TheSmokingGun]

Volkswagen Infotainment System (...and now for my 1000th post)

It won't be around for at least 3 years, but the Intel backed Volkswagen Infotainment System looks great. The gesture movements are probably the most interesting part of the whole system. You're still probably better off modding it yourself and installing a netbook with 3G in your car. I'm sure it costs more than $2000 from the dealership whenever it comes out. [Engadget]

Tata Nano: World's Cheapest Car Hits Indian Streets in July

Meet the Tata Nano. It costs 100,000 Rupees which is about equivalent to $1,980. It is suppose to be the hottest new thing in India. Ratan Tata, the chairman of Tata Motors says the company is planning for a European release in 2011 and there is a good chance the car could come to the US in the future.

I really don't believe that this car will be able to sell in America for $2000. With all the fees of importing a car and implementing American emmissions standards onto this car, the price will be jacked up a good amount. Not to mention:

Volkswagen, Toyota, Honda and Fiat are eyeing the segment, and the venture of Renault/Nissan with Bajaj is on track to launch a $2,500 car in 2011. [Reuters]
