Apparently Brett had promised Percy Harvin that he would sing the pants on the ground song if they went onto the NFC Championship game. And apparently Brett Favre is an American Idol fan.

Dan Wetzel of Yahoo! Sports says that Brett Favre was told by Vikings' head coach Brad Childress that he would be benched for the 3rd quarter of last night's loss to the Carolina Panthers. Favre refused and stayed in the game.
“Yeah, there was a heated discussion, I guess you would call it,” Favre told reporters afterwards. “We were up 7-6 at the time. No secret, I was getting hit a little bit. I felt the pressure on a lot of plays. We had seven points. So I think everyone in the building was like, ‘They’re not moving the ball, they’re not getting points.’ Brad wanted to go in a different direction and I wanted to stay in the game.”

The update will also include Michael Vick wearing number 7 for the Eagles. Check out Favre's stats below. [Kotaku]

[EDIT: This was a complete coincidence. Awesome! Yet totally unsurprising]
ESPN's Ed Werder reports that Minnesota Vikings coach Brad Childress is going to meet with
Well this is a stupid story. Guess what Favre, you're not getting any younger, and just like any other old guy, your decision making skills (on and -- as this story proves -- off the field) have been rapidly declining. Give it up, please. If not for your sake, then for mine. I don't know whether this story is more annoying or more sad. I'm gonna say more annoying. Just go away Old Yeller. Don't make us break out the rifle.
