Mark McGwire Makes An Appearance in Daylight

Remember Mark McGwire? Ten years ago, he was possibly the most beloved person in the whole United States. Currently, he hasn't been heard from in years. What's more, no one has even noticed. Well, whatever, we all know why. (Can you believe that those first Congressional hearings on steroids were already FOUR years ago next week? Crazy.)
So anyway, in case you were wondering about him, McGwire's resurfaced - as a hitting coach! Meaning he coaches hitting, and not that some team has hired him as an actual coach. You know, that whole stigma thing. But interestingly, one of his new pupils is '07 NLCS MVP (and '07 NL MVP runner-up) Matt Holliday.
"'I think all athletes have that God-given ability,' said McGwire, who is now 45. 'What goes behind it is the work ethic. It’s all about improving yourself throughout your career and not being satisfied with one or two good years.'" (That's funny. I really only remember like one or two of McGwire's years. But that's just me.)
So remember kids, it's all about work ethic. Oh, and steroids. Work ethic and steroids. [NYTimes]
