THIS IS WHAT I PAID $100 FOR????

I just got back from Game Stop after purchasing Batman: Arkham Asylum The Collector's Edition. Obviously I was excited. Excited for the Batarang, excited for the game, excited for the Dr. Arkham Journal. All that came to a crashing halt within the 5 seconds it took for me to open the packaging and case. The Batarang was damaged. How bad? you decide in the pictures below.

At first I thought hey maybe it was suppose to be like this to make it look authentic. But the damage was too severe and looked like someone had just gone through playing with it and packaged it. If it was made to look authentic, it would have looked better than it did. I called up Game Stop right away to ask about the defect. They said that ALL of the Collector's Edition's came defective and that I should contact the manufacturer about the problem (which I will be doing).

It just sucks that I was so excited and now I'm so f'ing upset. $100 is a lot of money for the video game. I expect the extras to be in excellent condition for that kind of cash and I don't think anyone else would disagree. So I'm hoping someone does something about this and resolves this issue for me and whoever else feels ripped off by this.

Best Buy Selling New Games at Used Game Prices?

According to this sign from a Best Buy in Utah, Best Buy is selling new games at the same price of used games from Gamestop and Game Crazy. That IS crazy!

If true, gamers can save 5-10 bucks depending on the game by opting to go to Best Buy instead of buying used. [Kotaku]

GameStop Shows Off Assassin's Creed II's Master Assassin Edition

The newly announced Master Assassin's $80 version of the otherwise-$60 game will be exclusive to GameStop and offer Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 owners an 8.5" statue of protagonist Ezio, an art book, a behind-the-scenes DVD and a collectible tin.

More intriguing is that this limited-edition version will offer "two exclusive in-game maps." One is unlockable for anyone who pre-orders the game and is set in the Palazzo de Medici. The other, exclusive to this version, is set in or near the Venetian church, Santa Maria Dei Frari. [Kotaku]

BUY ME: Batman: Arkham Asylum

Batman: Arkham Asylum's final release date has been set to August 28. Hopefully it won't be pushed back any further. So it's time to check out what bonus goodies you can get for this game.

First off, the game has a collector's edition that includes a 14" Batarang along with:

* Arkham Doctor’s Journal

* 48 pages of notes on Arkham’s inmates
* Embossed leather dust jacket

* 2 Sleeve Digi-pack, including:

* Game disc
* Behind-the-scenes DVD

But the extras don't end there. Depending on where you buy the game, you can get some bonus material.

On Amazon (only in America) you can get a limited edition comic book that serves as a prequel to the game.

The Road to Arkham is a 16-page comic written by Alan Burnett, illustrated by Carlos D'Anda and produced by DC Comics specifically for the launch of Batman: Arkham Asylum.

The Road to Arkham Story:

Batman has captured his greatest foe, The Joker, and is escorting him to Arkham Asylum, Gotham City's home for the criminally insane. But a series of anonymous tips has put Batman on alert; still, he does not realize that he is speeding toward the darkest journey of his life, one that will test all of his abilities in the chaotic depths of Arkham Island.

If you're going to go to your local Gamestop, or buying it online from them, you can get an bonus in-game challenge map involving the Scarecrow called "Dem Bones." You'll also get a "Time Alley" challenge map that can be unlocked using an exclusive code.

Also, as mentioned before, if you have any trouble deciding what console to get the game for (360 or PS3), remember that in the Playstation 3 version, you will be able to play as the joker. That makes the decision quite simple.
