Google Introduces Google Buzz

Google Buzz is built right into GMail. It brings all your social networking to one location including Picasa, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Google Reader, etc. It lets you check out high quality pictures and share messages in real time. There's no need to set up anything since it's already built into your GMail. It also works as a mobile web-app for cell phones as well.

Google is rolling out the new feature, it will be available to everyone soon.

Google is Going to Add Some Crazy Social Networking to GMail Tomorrow?

Word from the Wall Street Journal is that Google will be implementing (probably in some beta form) a new social networking feature into GMail (along with other Google products). Most likely it will be something that works along the lines of Facebook and twitter. It would allow you to post updates and status messages just like the other social networking sites. More to come at 1 p.m. tomorrow. [NY Times]

Looks pretty cool, but considering there's no real word on this gadget, I doubt it'll be anything like this.

Former Google China President Reveals Info for Apple Tablet

Apple is set to hold an event on January 26, 2010, presumably to reveal a Apple tablet gadget (not the picture above) of sorts. Apparently, the former Google China president, Kaifu Lee, has seen the thing and commented on it.

"The Apple Tablet looks like a bigger iPhone that sports an awesome UI packed in a beautiful 10.1-inch screen. The tablet combines the functions of both netbook and kindle, an ebook reader. It has virtual keyboard for text entry and a webcam for video conferencing." (translated)
Yea, hold off on buying that Macbook if a tablet would make your life better. [AppleInsider]

Rumors: Google to Sell Unlocked Nexus One for $530, $180 W/2-Year T-Mobile Contract

Rumors say that Google will sell the Nexus One (aka Google phone) for $530 unlocked. A cheaper version is available at $180, but will require a 2-year T-Mobile contract. Here's the round up of other rumors regarding the phone:
  • Existing T-Mo customers can’t keep their current plan if they want a subsidized phone.
  • The subsidized price only works on accounts with single lines. Family plans, Flexpay, SmartAccess and KidConnect plans must buy the phone at the full $530 unlocked price.
  • You can onliy buy five Nexus Ones per Google account.
  • Looks like it can be shipped outside the U.S.
  • It’ll be sold at google.com/phone.
  • And if you buy the Nexus One at the subsidized price and cancel before 120 days have passed, you have to pay the difference — $350 — or return the phone to Google.

Google Music Search Officially Launched

Droid Coming to Verizon on November 6

All set to be the best phone on Verizon's network, the Motorolla Droid comes out on November 6th. Packed with Google's Android OS, a pop out (and touchscreen) keyboard, 5 MP camera with flash, and free Google Navigation with voice search, Droid will be the best shot Verizon (and Motorolla) has to compete with the iPhone 3GS (regardless of if there is a map for that or not).

Aesthetically, it doesn't look all that pretty, but it's decent when collapsed. The OS itself is fast, just as fast as the iPhone 3GS. The screen is crisper, better than the iPhone.

While there aren't as many crazy apps for Android as there are for the iPhone, Google is on the rise with it's mobile os. It is still chasing after the iPhone, but it's a lot closer than Blackberry.

Anyone with Verizon that wants a great phone (because Verizon has NONE) should go after the Motorolla Droid.

Google Navigation for Android 2.0, Coming Soon for iPhone

Along with Android 2.0, Google has launched Navigation! Oh, AND IT'S FREE! No surprise that Tom Tom's stock tumbled as a result. The Google Navigation app will also be coming to the iPhone soon.

PS: I'm selling my GPS if anyone wants it!

If You Didn't Know Your Search Provider Would You be Able to Guess it?

Blind Search is a side project of a Microsoft employee (unaffiliated with the company) that shows search results for anything you want to search. Results pop up showing results from Bing, Google and Yahoo!. The goal is to determine whether or not you would continue using the search engine you use daily. For me, I use Google and when I did a search for this blog, results for this blog popped up as third and fourth results in one section, so I chose that one and sure enough, it was Google. That's why I use Google. The blog did show up on the other searches, but not as high up.

As of July 31, the side project showed that 41% of people chose Google, 31% picked Bing and 28% went for Yahoo. I'm sure more people thought they would choose Google over the others. Pretty interesting for a side project. [Blind Search]

Avoid Google Ads When You Send GMail.

GMail ads can be annoying and seem very useless for the most part. There are some words however that result in the ads being taken off. Most of them are curse words and other are about murder or sex. But how can you possibly send an email to someone like your boss without ads and without cursing him off or talk about killing people?

The following phrase seems to do the trick:

I enjoy the massacre of ads. This sentence will slaughter ads without a messy bloodbath.

Check out the before picture above and the after picture below. [Lifehacker]
