The Garmin Nuviphone G60

Garmin G60 Hands On from Jesus Diaz on Vimeo.

This is one of those phones that is simple, elegant and (looks like) it just gets the job done right. This is the type of phone I can see replacing all generic phones. From the video it looks like it is still a step or 2 back from the high end phones. If I had to get my mother a smart phone, this could be it.

Of course this is pretty much all off the video. But still, it looks impressive. Obviously, being a Garmin, the big feature on it is the navigation. Widgets like weather and MP3 player are just thrown in as useful functions on the side.

It looks like it would make a pretty good travel phone as well considering it has maps for North America and (I'm guessing optional) maps of Europe.

Gizmodo says that the browser took long to load the page (prolly due to the 3G service, more than the phone).

The Linux-based OS looks really smooth, clean and fast. The phone physically is the same. No buttons except a camera button and a volume rocker on one side and sd slot and usb on the other. So far, I like it! [Gizmodo]
