They are Making Soda Out of Cow Pee in India

That headline really says it all doesn't it?

It will be called "gau jal" or "cow water."

Cow Protection Department of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), India's biggest and oldest Hindu nationalist group, will make the drink. The group is headed by Om Prankash

Mr Prakash said his drink, by contrast, was made mainly of cow urine, mixed with a few medicinal and ayurvedic herbs. He said it would be "cheap", but declined to give further details about its price or ingredients until it was officially launched.

"Don't worry, it won't smell like urine and will be tasty too," he told The Times from his headquarters in Hardwar, one of four holy cities on the River Ganges. "Its USP will be that it's going to be very healthy. It won't be like carbonated drinks and would be devoid of any toxins."

I don't care what he says, that is f'ing disgusting! [Times Online]

  1. Similarly the Old Masters like Vermeer loved Indian Yellow color for its luminescent qualities, and often used it to represent sunlight. At that time Indian Yellow was produced by collecting the urine of cattle that had been fed only mango leaves. Since mango leaves are not the proper food for cattle, the practice of harvesting Indian Yellow was eventually declared to be inhumane.
