What to do with $1.61 Billion profit

If you've been following, Apple just posted a $1.61 Billion profit for this past quarter. Thats on top of their previous gains. Here's an idea for what they could do with that money to help this country out. Besides helping one of the million causes out there, Apple could take a step up to the White House.

From the Washington Post:

"Two years after launching the most technologically savvy presidential campaign in history, Obama officials ran smack into the constraints of the federal bureaucracy yesterday, encountering a jumble of disconnected phone lines, old computer software, and security regulations forbidding outside e-mail accounts."

To sum it up, the Obama folks moved into the White House ready to revamp the tech aspects of the administration and what did they find? Old computors with Microsoft applications. The Obama crew is used to working with Macs and MacBooks.

On top of that, access was limited. Basic features that the Obama campaign used to reach out to people were unavailable. Social networking sites like facebook were not permitted along with instant messaging, and outside e-mail. Most of the technology was over six years old.

Apple should come in at this point, upgrade the White House and (via Obama's tech crew) lead the country. Hey, they are doing a pretty good job staying afloat during this recession, why not let them try to help the entire country (via the White House).

Apple could easily re-wire and grant access to all the workers at the White House with that profit (and still have money left over). Think about the publicity! Barack Obama powered by Apple! The White House powered by Apple! America powered by Apple!? (okay maybe that's a little too far). But hey, maybe you can even get him to ditch that old blackberry for an iPhone 3G!
