Apple Keynote Macworld 2009

Although the Apple Keynote is over at Macworld, it's important to remember the last event. No, not the iTunes upgrades or new MacBook Pro. It's Tony Bennett! And he's singing, "The Best is Yet to Come." I'm still waiting for iMac, Mac Mini and iPhone news! [Photo by Gizmodo]

Apple's Phil Schiller introduces the 17" MacBook Pro. It will feature LED backlit, "1920 x 1200 display, 700:1 contrast ratio, 60% greater color gamut." along with a Matte display and a $50 option for anti-glare screen. It will cost the same as the previous 17" MacBook Pro at $2799, available in only one configuration. [Photo by Gizmodo]

The other specs are standard: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.93 GHz Dual Core, 6MB L2 Cache, 8GB memory at 1066 MHz DDR3, both integrated 9400M and 9600M graphics cards. 320GB HDD standard, or 256GB SSD upgradable drives. The glass trackpad, four-finger gestures and multi-button support. [Photo by Gizmodo]

Schiller is boasting this MacBook Pro to have the longest life ever. The battery will last 8 hours on a single charge and will be able to be charged 1,000 times. When using the higher-end graphics card, battery life is lowered to 7 hours. Battery life in optimum settings will last 60% longer. It won't be removeable, that's how they make it last longer. They use a block of batteries that last longer. [Photo by Gizmodo]

What this basically means is that if you plan on keeping this MacBook Pro for more than about 5 years, you will have to bring it back to Apple to replace the battery (much like the iPhone, iPod Touch). You can do it yourself, but it would probably be a huge pain and you risk breaking such a beautiful product.

Now you can get your music right from your iPhone from wherever you are. As long as you have 3G service or WiFi, you will be able to buy music right onto your phone. When you get home, you can sync it to your iTunes. [Photo by Engadget]

Apple has introduced new DRM-free music available via iTunes Plus. By the end of March, we can expect the entire iTunes music collection to be DRM-free. News had broke earlier in the day that Apple had come to a DRM agreement with Sony-BMG, Universal and Warner. [Photo by Engadget]

iTunes is dropping the price of many of its songs. As of April, there will be 3 tiers of pricing for individual songs; $.69, $.99 and $1.29. The price depends on the release of the song as well as the label it comes from. [Photo by Engadget]

Schiller has announced iLife '09. This isn't surprising as there are snapshots of it appearing at the Apple online store just before it went down this morning. [Image via TUAW]

iPhoto '09 to have organization by face detection, geographic location, and events. Will support Flickr and Facebook.

iMovie '09 will feature drag & drop. You can also take off the audio from one video clip and add it to another via drag/drop. Images will go through image stabilization in iMovie as well.

GarageBand '09 will have "learn to play" feature that helps people learn to play musical instruments with relative ease. There are 9 guitar and piano lessons built in. There are also artist lessons from Sting, Patrick Stump, Norah Jones and Sarah McLauchlan. [Photo via Gizmodo]

iLife will be available late January. $79 for the upgrade, $99 for the family pack. All new Macs will come with it (obviously).

Apple has released a Keynote iPhone app that lets you use your iPhone as a remote for your keynote presentation. It's $.99.

Schiller introduced upgrades for iWork, including Numbers (Exel) and Pages (Word). It'll cost $79 for the upgrade and $99 for the family pack. It's $49 if you buy it with a Mac. Shipping today. I'm sure all three people are waiting for it at the Apple Store already.

Schiller says, “iWork.com is a service for you to share with other people. You can notify other people that you’ve shared documents, and collaborate on them. They can review and edit documents online.”

My question is, who are you going to share it with? No one has this stuff, no one wants it, what a snoozer. iworks.com will be free.

Also, if you buy leopard, it comes with iLife and iWork for $169. Available late January. [Photo by Gizmodo]

Thanks to Gizmodo, Engadget and TUAW for the pictures and live blogs.
